This haversack is an extremely rare -
M1874 original (smaller 12”) - 12th Infantry Indian War - early version after the black U.S. rubberlike waterproofing for haversacks.
A very collectible militaria item from the early Indian Wars. Very clean and signs of very little use!
This original period item is a unique piece of history that would be highly sought after by collectors interested in Militaria. VERY COLLECTABLE.
This piece has been in an ac storage for a very long time. Very clean!
Its rarity and originality make it a valuable and sought after addition to any collection focusing on military history.
This piece is out of the ordinary due to the process of the earlier waterproofing. This oil was NOT OF ITS PREDECESSOR’s water proofing of the black rubber like paint that was used & issued (on its earlier introduction.
Early D rings in back. All original. Not a reproduction.
This haversack is most likely one of the first haversacks with this type of water proofing (not in Black) which would make this the closest thing to an early Indian Wars haversack.
Beautiful piece! A must collectible for the Indian War extremist. Guaranteed original!
Thanks!
