An outstanding large example of the CARIOCA form of Siratus tenuivaricosus from Brazil. This specimen is dominated by the features that make the species so distinctive: thin, expanded varices, exceptionally long primary spines, a strongly sculptured body whorl, and an extended siphonal canal.The varices are especially impressive on this shell. Broad, blade-like growth forms support widely projecting spines that give the specimen dramatic three-dimensional profile, while numerous fine spinal cords remain visible across the body and varical surfaces. View dorsally, the three-varix construction and spine arrangement are particularly striking. The natural operculum remains present, adding considerably to its interest as a complete collector specimen.A distinctive Brazilian Muricidand an excellent representation of the CARIOCA form, with size, spine development and operculum all contributing to its collector appeal.
