For your consideration is this nostalgic, medium weight, handmade, vintage patchwork quilt from my personal collection. I originally purchased the quilt used, so I don\'t know its exact age. This quilt shows beautiful artistry in the design and use of great old fabrics - very unusual!
The top consists of twenty (20) blocks, each measuring approximately 18\" x 18\" inches. Each block is the same pattern, but different colors of material, making each block unique. The sashing is red and the back is solid light blue. Each block appears to be machine-pieced; and the entire quilt is hand quilted (not machine quilted) using small stitches. The binding is the same light blue material used on the back.
The quilt measures approximately 96\" x 78\" overall. The quilt is shown in the photos and video on a pull-out bed measuring approximately 52\" wide by 71\" long (which is smaller than a full-sized bed which is 54\" wide by 75\" long).
There are some defects in this quilt along with some damage that needs repair. The defects include fading, seam splits, stains (including one stain on the back), one block (in the corner) with multiple holes, and a wonky area that is sewn crooked. I took pictures of these defects - each picture has a blue arrow and dime for size reference. There are also some pulled threads and snags (that I did not photograph). Please look closely at all of the photos so you can understand the overall condition of this quilt.
My mother (an experienced quilter) did some previous repairs on this quilt and fixed several of the blocks that had damage - the result is that this quilt is sort of a \"mixed bag\" with some blocks in perfect condition, other blocks in original (but still good) condition, and some blocks that need repair. If you are not able to repair it, it could still be used for display by folding it in a way that only shows the good blocks.
Overall, this quilt is in fair to very good shape. Although it has obviously been used, the binding is not frayed or worn, and I have never used it in my home.
This quilt has been carefully stored in my smoke-free, pet-free basement. I washed this quilt once (in my bathtub, line dried) about four years ago, then I placed it in a zippered pillowcase and stored it.
This quilt will be mailed to you carefully folded, inside of a zippered pillowcase. The pillow case will be wrapped in white tissue paper, then placed inside of a plastic bag to ensure the quilt stays dry during shipping. I always place my packaged quilts inside of a large, sturdy shipping box with packing peanuts to ensure your purchase arrives in the best condition possible. Shipping is FREE.
