Original 1968/1972 "LUANA IS COMING!" Movie Teaser Pin - Jungle Girl Exploitation
You are looking at an original theatrical advance promo pin for the Italian jungle film Luana la figlia delle foresta vergine.
The film was given a limited release in the U.S. in 1972 as "Luana", and a wide release in 1973, the 1968 Roberto Infascelli German/Italian fantasy jungle savage adventure thriller
Detailing:
• Front Art: Stark white background with huge 3-D block letters LUANA in yellow with orange drop-shadow across the top. To the right in bold red: IS COMING!
• Central Illustration: Full-color jungle girl - long black hair, gold skin, wearing animal-skin bikini top and loincloth - standing in a power pose between a snarling black panther (left) and roaring lion (right). She holds a red-tipped dart/feather. Ground is white savanna scrub with orange accents. This is the classic Frank Frazetta-style "female Tarzan" art used on the US one-sheet poster.
• Maker Mark: Along the bottom curl in tiny black print: © CAPITOL PRODUCTIONS MCMLXXIV - 1974 copyright for the US distributor.
• Construction: Vintage 2.25" celluloid cello pinback with original long stick-pin back (not the modern safety pin). Measures 2-1/4" diameter on mat.
• Condition: Very Good vintage. Colors remain bright - yellows and reds are strong. Light age yellowing to the white field and scattered micro-scratches to cello consistent with 50+ years, no major chips or cracks. Pin is straight and functional.
Rarity:
This is rare - much rarer than a standard studio pin.
1. It was never sold to the public. "IS COMING!" teaser pins were made in runs of a few hundred and mailed only to theater owners and bookers to hype the coming US release. Most were tossed.
2. Exploitation / grindhouse paper and pins have a near-zero survival rate - unlike Disney or political buttons, no one saved them.
3. You will not find comps. At any given time there are 0-1 of these on worldwide. The 1.5" common 1970s movie pins like Star Wars or Jaws had runs of 100,000+. This had a run of maybe 500.
This is for serious collectors of: 60s/70s sexploitation & jungle films, Frank Frazetta / fantasy art, female Tarzan / Sheena ephemera, and vintage theater advertising.
100% original 1970s - not a modern reproduction.
