Original Bellevue Hospital surgeon/medical staff dress cap, 1930s.Size: 8” Diameter w/ 2”H reinforced rimMade by Huxley, 319 Castle Court, Lawrence Lane, London, for Adolf Levy & Son, Freeport, RIDistinctive dark navy professional medical cap featuring elaborate original gold bullion braid and Bellevue-era medical staff styling. Cap belonged to my grandfather, who was a surgeon at Bellevue Hospital during the 1930s. An unusual piece of New York City and Bellevue Hospital medical history, with documented family connection to a physician who worked at Bellevue in the 1930s.Condition: Incomplete - Front visor/bill & interior sweatband/band are missing. Additional age-related wear and deterioration to fabric and trim. Sold as-is, without restoration.An excellent piece for a collector of medical history, Bellevue Hospital memorabilia, New York City history, physician uniforms, or early 20th-century professional dress.Please review all photographs carefully for condition.
