Rare Gibson Art Company Halloween Postcard – Three Jack-O’-Lanterns – Antique Publisher Variation
Offered is a scarce and unusual antique Halloween postcard published by The Gibson Art Company of Cincinnati, featuring three expressive jack-o’-lanterns beneath a glowing orange moon.
The colorful illustration depicts one jack-o’-lantern suspended from the branch of an old tree, while two additional pumpkins rest at its base. The vibrant yellow and orange background, striking black linework, and decorative orange border create a wonderful example of early 20th-century Halloween postcard artistry.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE – UNUSUAL GIBSON PUBLISHER VARIATION
This Gibson Art Company postcard features the identical illustration found in Fairman & Company’s highly collectible Pink of Perfection Series No. 400.
While the Fairman edition bears the Pink of Perfection trademark and series designation, this example carries the Gibson Art Company publisher imprint and has no visible series number.
Historical postcard research documents business connections between Gibson Art Company and Fairman & Company, including overlapping company leadership. However, the publication sequence of these two versions has not been definitively established.
Examples of this exact illustration bearing the Gibson imprint have proven difficult to locate in available marketplace and collector references, making this an intriguing variation for collectors of early Halloween postcards and postcard publishing history.
