SCARCE 1957 PARKER 61 DEMONSTRATOR FACTORY ORIGINAL FOUNTAIN PEN NEAR MINT:
$625.00

For your consideration, we are pleased to offer for sale this uncommon circa 1957 Parker 61 Capillary Filler Demonstrator Fountain Pen. This is a genuine Parker factory-made demonstrator, distinguished by the “DEMONSTRATOR” imprint on the barrel, and is an especially clean example of the early Parker 61. The pen has been completely disassembled, thoroughly cleaned, serviced, reassembled, and is now ready to write.

The fountain pen has been carefully restored with the nib, feed, collector, breather tube, hood, and barrel ultrasonically cleaned. The cap and Arrow Clip were hand cleaned, as was the original 14K Parker nib. The barrel and hood remain remarkably clear, making the internal capillary-filling components easily visible. The barrel retains a clean, unworn “DEMONSTRATOR” imprint, an important detail for collectors. There are no monograms or personalizations.

The cap, barrel, and hood are in exceptional condition with no chips, cracks, fissures, or repairs. The Lustraloy-style cap is free of dings and dents, while the chrome Feather Arrow Clip shows essentially no wear. The cap is clearly stamped “PARKER 61 Made in U.S.A.” along the lip. The Parker 61 was produced from 1956 through 1983, placing this example very early in the model\'s production, circa 1957.

The original 14K Parker nib is fitted with a Medium point measuring approximately .75mm at the tipping when measured with digital calipers. Because the nib and overall pen are exceptionally clean, I have deliberately refrained from inking or dipping it. The previous owner also stated that the pen had never been inked.

Measuring approximately 5 1/2 inches capped, 5 7/8 inches posted, and weighing .62 ounces, this Parker 61 has the proportions and light, balanced character that made the model such a successful everyday writing instrument.

What makes this example particularly interesting to the collector is its factory-made demonstrator construction and original “DEMONSTRATOR” barrel imprint. Parker 61 demonstrators are uncommon, and examples retaining this level of clarity, clean imprinting, original trim, and exceptionally well-preserved 14K nib are considerably more difficult to locate. The existence of European demonstrator examples without the barrel imprint makes the clearly marked Parker factory example particularly desirable to collectors interested in original Parker production. Additionally, there are fantasy Parker 61s that have clear, non-imprinted barrels as well.

I would grade this Parker 61 Demonstrator Near Mint to Near Mint+ condition. It is an unusually clean and well-preserved early Parker 61, combining excellent transparency, original demonstrator markings, early production dating, an unworn cap and clip, and a beautiful original 14K Medium nib.

For the Parker collector, vintage demonstrator enthusiast, or collector of unusual American fountain pens, this is a particularly appealing example. Genuine factory demonstrators are an important part of Parker\'s history, and this early Parker 61 offers the added attraction of being both highly transparent and clearly identified with its original “DEMONSTRATOR” imprint.

A scarce and wonderfully preserved Parker 61, fully serviced and ready to write—or simply worthy of a place in a serious Parker collection or writing arsenal.
