SCARCE beautifully red fluorescent ( LW) spinel on marble matrix with associated phlogopite and calcite from Badakhshan Provence, Afghanistan.
Under LW & SW the multiple white fluorescing calcite crystals as well as yellowish fluorescing phlogopite are apparent.The LW fluorescence is displayed in the first seven photos.The spinel displays a much duller fluorescence under short wave UV light, but the associated minerals provide for an pleasing visual appearance. ( please see last 4 photos).
Short wave photos taken with Super Bright UV lamp, long wave with 36 watt Way Too Cool lamp.
Please note special UV light is mandatory to visualize the fluorescence.
