Offered here is a stunning turquoise "Leekya leaf" necklace from the late Sarah Leekya (1930-2017) of Zuni Pueblo. Sarah was a daughter of Old Man Leekya Deyuse, and was well known for her prolific carving of fetishes, making many birds, bears, wolves and other creatures over throughout her years.
For this necklace she carved the family namesake leaves her father was well known for having made in the early 20th century, a tradition carried forth by Sarah, her late brother Francis, and later generations. The heavily veined turquoise - possibly Hubei Chinese in origin - is quite beautiful, with color varying from deep blue to green.
