Modeled after the legendary Pontifical Swiss Guard — protectors of the Vatican since 1506 — Captain Guido cuts an imposing figure in exquisite detail. He wears a silver metallic doublet trimmed with gold braid epaulettes, a white ruffled Renaissance collar, and striking red and cream striped puffed breeches with white stocking legs and silver-painted shoes. His morion-style helmet is silver with a burgundy/dark red visor, gold trim, and a spectacular white feather plume. In his left hand he carries a tall wooden halberd staff topped with a silver spear/axe head. The warm cherry-toned natural wood round base bears a brass nameplate engraved: \"Captain Guido\" of the Swiss Guards.
