This is the first of a 4-volume series of books which are truly unique. The majority of the photographs were captured from an airplane while others were taken atop buildings, bridges, hills and cliffs. Some photos were even taken from small boats.
There are photographs of railroad infrastructure including bridges, tunnels, stations, signs and signals as well as various locomotives passenger trains, freight trains, cabooses and industrial facilities along the tracks, not to mention the gorgeous scenery with spectacular views.
For those of you who are regular readers of Railpace magazine the name Daniel Spitzer might be familiar. His images are constantly seen in the news photos and are usually shot and captioned “from a fixed wing aircraft”. The perspective is interesting and unique. They are not your typical elevated drone images so common today. The images are great for modelers. Not for your equipment detailing but the elevated perspective does offer a view as to how things fit together. That could be buildings in an industrial complex, parking lots at a train station or just how the railroad flowed through the geography of the area.
Featuring more than just the trains, this book is full of ideas and inspirations for modelers.
