Details + Condition:Handmade and painted bust by the noted folk artist, Gemma Taccogna, circa 1950s-1960s. Signed on the bottom and inscribed "Mexico". In good condition, with minor paint scratches on the side and back of the head. Measures: 4" x 4" x 10" in depth, width and height. Gemma Taccogna (1923–2007) was an Italian-born American and Mexican visual artist, designer, and educator widely recognized as a pioneer of mid-century folk art and modern papier-mâché sculpture. During the 1950s and 1960s, her work became a favorite among elite mid-century figures and Hollywood celebrities.
