The Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire (RPFS) in Southern California, established in 1963. Inspired by 16th-century Elizabethan fairs and Italian Commedia dell'Arte. It was designed as an interactive, educational "living history" event for children and their families. The fair was a 1960s and 1970s hub for creatives, particularly those impacted by the Hollywood blacklist, providing a space for actors, artists, and craftsmen to showcase their skills.
