This is a 1982 Star Wars Kenner Micro Collection figure 733-006 Chewbacca. It is made of painted die-cast metal. It was produced after The Empire Strikes Back and before Return of the Jedi. It had a limited production run, under 2 years, making this figure highly collectible. It is still sealed in plastic and the paint is not fading or chipped.
