This beautiful vintage handwoven wood splint basket is a stunning piece of American craftwork from Carnation Baskets. Produced in 1996, this decorative picnic purse style piece features a distinct woven construction with prominent dark accent bands that complement the natural tones of the maple wood splints. The sturdy overhead stationary wooden swinging handle allows for easy carrying or display, while the attached solid wood lid protects your stored items.
The back of the basket features durable leather hinges securing the lid, while the front is equipped with a matching leather loop toggle closure system to keep everything neat and secure. Built with craftsmanship reminiscent of the classic Dresden, Ohio style, it stands out with a wonderful primitive farmhouse aesthetic that works perfectly for rustic home decor, seasonal storage, or organization.
The underside of the basket is clearly branded with the official stamp reading "CARNATION BASKETS HANDMADE USA" and features the authentic handwritten signature and date from the original artisan craftsman. This collectible piece serves beautifully as a tabletop organizer, small sewing basket, or decorative accent.
