This is a complete and working Dime-A-Wake Coin Op Mechanical alarm clock. Made in Las Vegas in the late 1940s, the Dime-A-Wake company sold and leased these devices to motel operators so they could make passive income.
The clock offers a wake up alarm function for 10c. You set the alarm time with a knob, drop in a dime, and slide the knob over to activate. When the alarm goes off (it’s a very loud brass bell!), you switch the knob off and it resets.
The mechanical clock mechanism is working. It is wound by a key. Time is also set by a key (the motel guest would not have access to those settings)
It also has a small holder for a business card - so the motel owner could make a few bucks a month by offering local restaurants and taxis to advertise. A clever and awesome mid century American coin operated alarm clock!
