Vintage Gränsfors Bruks Collared Axe Head – Re-Steeled by EP – Sweden
An interesting vintage Swedish collared axe head manufactured by Gränsfors Bruks AB, Sweden.
This example has been re-steeled at some point in its history, with a new cutting edge fitted to the original axe head. The work is attributed to EP, whose initials are clearly stamped into the steel.
This makes it an interesting piece of traditional Swedish axe-making and tool repair history, showing how valuable tools were repaired and maintained rather than discarded.
The axe features a traditional Swedish collared design, with a pronounced collar around the handle eye.

This axe has undergone a traditional re-steeling repair, where a new cutting edge was fitted to extend the working life of the tool.
The EP initials are stamped on the opposite side from the manufacturer’s marking.

Condition:
Vintage used condition with surface oxidation, scratches, patina, hammer marks and signs of age and previous use.
The cutting edge shows wear, including a small nick near the upper portion.
Remnants of the old wooden handle remain in the eye.
Unrestored – sold as found.
