Description
A beautifully coordinated vintage Japanese Satsuma tea set consisting of five cups and five matching saucers.
Each piece is richly decorated with elegant peacocks perched among flowering cherry blossom branches. Soft pink blossoms, green and blue plumage, rocky landscape details, and extensive gilt outlines create a layered composition inspired by traditional Japanese nature painting.
The warm ivory ground features fine age-related crazing, giving the set the softly antiqued appearance often associated with Satsuma-style pottery. Deep brown geometric borders and gold-painted rims frame each scene, while the cups feature sculptural gilt handles and complementary floral decoration.
The five saucers display variations of the same peacock and cherry blossom scene, emphasizing the hand-finished character of the set. The combination of birds, flowering trees, and gold embellishment gives each place setting the appearance of a miniature Japanese landscape painting.
Set Includes
- Five handled tea cups
- Five matching saucers
- Total: 10 pieces
Décor and Display Suggestions
Ideal for:
- Japanese and Asian-inspired interiors
- Chinoiserie décor
- Grandmillennial displays
- Traditional china cabinets
- Peacock and bird collections
- Romantic floral table settings
- Vintage tea cup collections
Because of the extensive crazing, interior discoloration, unknown glaze composition, and cracked handle on one cup, this set is best suited for decorative display or careful collection rather than regular food service.
