WW2, Korean , Army Officer Chest, Trunk, Enamel Dishes & Flatware:
$400.00

This is a 1940\'s US Army mess kit chest measuring 18\" wide by 14\" tall. It has faded but legible black stamped abbreviations on its top and 3 sides. It appears that the small oval plaque on the lid says \"Aug. 1944\" The trunk has lots of rivets and sturdy metal corner brackets and latches, leather handles and even its original lock. Inside are multiple wooden compartments holding a 7 place setting of grey and black enamel dishes. Each set includes a plate, bowl and cup. Stamped on bottom is \"Czech 1944\". There is also stainless steel flatware (3 forks, 5 spoons, and 4 knives, which are engraved \"US and Stainless\". Lastly, the set includes salt & pepper shakers. Of note: one cup is mismatched. This may be one of the original cups since it is heavier. The enamelware is in good overall condition. However, it does have some occasional scratches and factory defects. The flatware also has some minor scratching. Also, the leather strap that holds up the silverware compartment needs to be fixed as it currently flops down when the chest is opened.
