Original WWII US Army M1939 Enlisted Wool Overcoat – SHAEF (Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force) Corporal – Named Grouping / Laundry Mark L-3127

Up for sale is a beautiful, 100% authentic World War II United States Army Enlisted Man\'s M1939 Wool Overcoat. This heavy olive drab Melton wool greatcoat is a stunning piece of history, retaining its original, beautifully hand-sewn theater insignia.

Historical Highlights:

• Left Shoulder Patch: Original SHAEF (Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force) Shoulder Sleeve Insignia—the legendary multi-national command led by General Dwight D. Eisenhower that planned and executed the D-Day landings and the liberation of Western Europe.

• Sleeve Rank: Original hand-stitched wool Corporal (E-4) rank chevrons on both sleeves.

• Buttons: Complete set of original, bright brass U.S. Army \"Great Seal\" buttons securely attached to the front.

• Provenance Identity: The interior cotton twill neck lining features a clear, crisp military laundry code stamp: L-3127. This unique tracking marker consists of the soldier\'s last initial (\"L\") paired with the final four digits of their unique 8-digit Army Service Number.

(Note: This overcoat was recently recovered directly out of a local estate sale alongside the veteran\'s matching Ike dress jacket, confirming an absolute, unbroken historical grouping belonging to a single SHAEF headquarters soldier).

Condition Details:

The coat is in magnificent vintage shape for its age. The heavy-duty wool remains thick, stiff, and exceptionally warm. No major moth tracking, stains, or tearing to note. The interior lining shows expected light material coloration from actual wartime wear but remains entirely intact.

Please review all high-resolution photos closely to inspect the precise sewing patterns on the patches and the internal markings. Ships promptly and securely inside a sturdy box via calculated shipping.
