Found at an estate sale in the 70s. Used as wall decor, there are no markings on the piece as to origin or manufacture. I cannot tell if it was made for sole purpose of decor or if it was a actual propeller used on a plane.
Given the hole configuration and overall size, I would imagine this was not used on an actual plane. Perhaps a model? It would be a pretty big model. Most propellers have several mounting holes, at least four, usually more. This propeller does have a metal collar with a set screw/bolt. Collar appears to be steel as opposed to brass. Wear around the set screw, wear on the wood surface, and finish/appearance looks like it was used, somehow, as a propeller (as opposed to just wall decor).
If anyone can provide insight, I\'d appreciate your thoughts.
Regardless, this would make for an authentic-looking conversation piece for air travel.
