The Saffron Walden branch, running from Audley End to Bartlow, was opened in 1865 by the independent Saffron Walden Railway. It was purchased by the Great Eastern Railway in 1877 and was closed to all traffic in 1964. Here we see Class G5 0-4-4T No 67322 at Bartlow built at Darlington in 1900, it was withdrawn in November 1956.
