Two Orig Faxes 1989 David Hockney Home & Office Buddy Hickerson Art Butch Kirby For Sale

Combined shipping offered on multiple purchases. Please note: the Buddy Hickerson comic art appears on a thermal fax (hence it is a copy of the original artwork). Offered are two faxes: 1) Thermal (Received) Fax dated March 16, 1989 measuring 8-1/2" by 27-3/4" sent by Butch Kirby from "DH IN THE HILLS" (David Hockney's home and studio in the Hollywood Hills where he lived at the time) to staff member Carla Rajnus at the David Hockney office on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, California; and 2) Original (Sent) Fax designed by David Hockney measuring 8-1/2" by 11" from Carla Rajnus to Butch Kirby in reply. The thermal fax from Butch Kirby contains a seven-panel comic story by comic artist Buddy Hickerson featuring Pasha ("I met this strange girl, Pasha, in a crowded restaurant last year. She was the kind of woman you couldn't ignore") - in one panel, she holds a sign that says "TAKE ME!"; in another, in an effort to "make friends," she breast-feeds those male patrons never breast-fed by their mothers; another panel shows a shrine she made to George Michael ("A shrine to an unshaven syrup-rock musical obscenity!!"). Presumably offended, Carla Rajnus writes back with a short note in black felt pen ("Just what are you implying? Hopefully just humor! Thanks, Butch"). The Thermal Fax is in Fine condition; the Sent Fax shows a few coffee spots. Provenance: I purchased these faxes, along with several others, at a garage sale in West Hollywood in 1991 given by a young man who then worked at Data-Boy, now a long-defunct gay male bar publication, with its office located next to David Hockney's office on Santa Monica Boulevard and who had, on a few occasions, gone through their trash bin and removed several items of paper ephemera such as these.
