Vintage 7.5" Red Wooden “Michiyuki” Japanese Kokeshi Doll by Masai/Shoei Fujikawa
This Japanese wooden kokeshi doll by noted kokeshi doll maker Masai/Shoei Fujikawa (1942-2015) is in very good condition - just a small nick on the back left side of her head (see photos/video). It is his “Michiyuki” doll, with his foil sticker on the bottom. It is red and black, with a carved/etched design of plum blossoms and grasses. This doll would be a beautiful and special addition to any Japanese kokeshi doll collection.
Masai Fujikawa won the Prime Minister’s prize in the contest of all Japanese Kokeshi Dolls. Here are some of the awards he received:

In addition, he has received awards from Asahi, Yomiuri, Mainichi, Tokyo, Nikkei, Sankei, Jomo, and other newspapers, NHK, Gunma TV, FM Gunma, and others.
Dimensions are approximately 7.5 inches tall, 3.5 inches wide at top, and 2.25 inches wide at the base.
