This is a superb hand plane, ready to go to work and take shavings in the workshop.
It is a USA-made, Type 19 Stanley Bailey No. 3 hand plane, manufactured between 1948 and 1961.
The sole is dead flat and very clean. The original black japanning is 100%. The rosewood tote and front knob are in excellent condition and very comfortable in the hand. They have been finished with several thin coats of shellac and polished with paste wax.
The blade is full length and polished to perfection with natural oil stones and a leather strop. It can take see-through shavings less than 0.001" thick (see last few pictures). The original chip breaker was in very bad shape and had some chips on its edge. Therefore, I replaced it with a brand-new Hock breaker. The Hock breaker mates perfectly with the cutting iron for chatter-free action.
All moving parts have been lubricated with 3-in-1 light machine oil for buttery smooth operation. This is truly a wonderful plane and a lifetime tool. Please look at all the pictures closely and let me know if you have any questions about this item.
I will ship via USPS priority mail, free to the buyer.
Thanks for looking and good luck.
