I purchased this pot, and all the others I have listed from Robert Tenorio at his home in the Kewa Pueblo of Santo Domingo. The picture of the old pot is one that his grandfather found decades ago outside the pueblo. Robert used that pattern to make the design on the pot you see here. I have taken a picture of the actual pot found and the two pots of the similar design I purchased. The Spanish named the pueblo Santo Domingo, but it was Kewa before the Europeans came and recently the Kewa Indians have now recovered their original name. Consequently if you see Kewa it is the correct name for Santo Domingo.
Robert Tenorio\'s pottery is in museums around the world. He was featured on the History channel as one of the greatest Santo Domingo Kewa American Indian potters. President Reagan wrote a letter praising the beautiful pottery he received that was made by Robert. The letter is on the wall in his home.
