Rare WWI-Era U.S. Naval Reserve Double Sailor Patriotic Portrait Display
Wonderful antique World War I-era patriotic military display featuring two U.S. sailors set within an elaborate American eagle, shield and flag design. One sailor’s cap is visibly marked “U.S. Naval Reserve,” with the second appearing to reference the Reserve Force.
The colorful patriotic artwork includes a spread-wing eagle, American flags, star-covered shield, cannons, rifles/bayonets, drums, anchors and military/naval scenes.
Approximately 8” diameter.
The reverse retains its wire easel stand, allowing the piece to stand for tabletop display.
This is an antique piece showing authentic age, patina, surface wear, discoloration/toning and oxidation consistent with its age. It has not been cleaned or restored. Please review all photographs carefully as they are part of the description.
An especially striking example because it contains two sailor portraits rather than a single military portrait.
Approx. date: WWI era, circa 1917–1918
Size: Approx. 8” diameter
Material: Metal/tin-type patriotic portrait display
Display: Wire easel stand on reverse
Condition: Antique, unrestored condition with age-related wear and patina
