In the earlyevening of 5 June 1944 the men of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion,506th Parachute Infantry Regiment take inventory of their equipment on thehard-standingof Upottery Airfield, Devon. Adorned with hastily applied invasion stripes, theC-47sof the 438th Troop Carrier Group stand primed, ready to carry the elite unit toNormandy inthe early hours of D-Day 1944.
This outstanding painting was specially commissioned tohonor the veterans who fought with one of the most famous Airborne Divisions inhistory – the US 101st.
