$700.00

This is a partially prepared unfinished fossil skeleton of a mammal called Leptictis. All fossilized bones are associated- from the same individual. Leptictis is an extinct genus of small, shrew-like eutherian mammals that lived in North America during the Late Eocene to Early Oligocene epochs (about 37 to 30 million years ago. Predominantly insectivorous, this small mammal would have been a voracious predator. This specimen was collected in Southern Wyoming and was partially prepared. The skull is largely complete with excellent examples of well preserved teeth. Visible on the surface of the matrix are many bones including ribs, spine, scapula, foot, and toe bones. All of the associated blocks of matrix and bone fragments are included- this will be a great and fascinating puzzle for someone to put together, and the end result will be a rare edition to any personal collection. This is an exceptionally rare item to find offered in an unprepared state!Free USPS shipping included
